Day 9: {X}pect True healing

Last week, an atheist asked me "why I thought I was so special that I got the miracle while others died?" I had told him the story of God saving my life when I had the babies. He told me I should have thanked the doctors who saved my life, instead of a God that didn't exist. I told him that the doctors didn't save my life, although they did play a role, instead they told me there was no hope and to tell my husband and mother goodbye. Then, they knocked me out so I wouldn't know the difference; whether I lived or slipped away forever. I also told him that just because I got one miracle, didn't mean I always got "the miracle" he sarcastically referenced.

There is tragedy everywhere. I have tasted it. You have tasted it. But, I've also seen the unexplainable, supernatural miracles of a loving Heavenly Father. We will never know the answer to every "why" on this fallen planet. I don't think our minds could take the answers anyway. I have battled chronic illness for 10 years. I have asked hard questions. I have wept. I have received both instant healing for emotional and physical sickness, as well as help from doctors. In regards to my own suffering, I know at the end of the day, that I have a choice: to grow closer to God in it, or to reject truth because of it. This life is broken, and some of you are too. I am broken physically. But, I believe that my only source of hope and healing is found in a personal relationship with Christ. And despite a broken body, I am changed for the better because of my trials.

In the Bible, people literally chased Jesus just to touch Him. Once. One touch. They knew he could cast out demons with one word. They knew that He emanated the very Power of the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And because of this: they lowered sick friends through roofs, they begged His presence for their dead, and they chased the hem of his garment.

{We will never know the answer to every question, but we can always know that true healing begins and ends with Christ}.

{And when He had entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, entreating Him and saying "Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering great pain. And He said to him, I will come and heal him. But the centurion answered and said, "Lord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed...And Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way; let it be done to you as you have believed. And the servant was healed that very hour}. Matthew 8:5-8 & 13

{And when evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed; and He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were ill in order that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, "He Himself took our infirmities, and carried away our diseases."} Matthew 8:16 & 17

{And behold, a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak; for she was saying to herself, "If I only touch His garment, I shall get well. But Jesus turning and seeing her said, "Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well." And at once the woman was made well."} Matthew 9:20-23

{And after He had come into the house, the blind men came up to Him, and Jesus said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They said to Him, "Yes Lord." Then He touched their eyes, saying "Be it done to you according to your faith."} Matthew 9:28 & 29

{And great multitudes came to Him, bringing with them those who were lame, crippled, blind, dumb, and many others, and they laid them down at His feet; and He healed them, so that the multitude marveled as they saw the dumb speaking, the crippled restored, and the lame walking, and the blind seeing, and they glorified the God of Israel}. Matthew 15:30 & 31

{Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You today asking for more of You. If we have not treated our bodies with proper care, forgive us. Give us a new way of thinking and acting in regards to caring for the bodies you have blessed us with. Lord, where there is disease in our body, I ask in Jesus name that You, in Your power, will remove it today. Your word says that "by your wounds we are healed" according to 1 Peter 2:24. Lord, on days that we have more questions than answers, let us not sin in unbelief. Help us to overcome our feelings in the face of such tragic pain. Grow our confidence in You, Jehovah Rapha, our Healer. We believe that You alone are the source of our healing. Change us Lord from the inside out. Let no weapon formed against our mind or body be able to prosper according to Isaiah 54:17. In Jesus name. Amen}.
