This and That

This is Robb and I plus our friends Frankie and Melanie on our way to watch Phantom of the Opera at the Hobby Center in Houston.

This is Robb and I stopping in front of a great tree to get a picture together. I saw Phantom my freshman year in high school, but I didn't remember a lot of it.  The second time around was wonderful.  I love music and acting...so you cannot get a better combination.  I knew Robb had never seen Phantom, but I did not know he absolutely knew NOTHING about it.  Not even a vague story line.  Matter of fact we sat down in our seats and he says, "Now what is this suppose to be about?"  So, I was a little worried that he would not enjoy himself and check ESPN on twitter the entire show.
That did not happen.  By intermission, he was purchasing a program so he could read about all the actors.  And yesterday, he bought the movie Phantom of the Opera on I-tunes (whoops! does that violate man-code?)   Well, I think it is fine and man-code violation or not, I am happy he enjoyed it.  (Mary Poppins and The Sound of Music are coming soon...hint hint)!

On our way to Phantom, we dined at Mingalone's Italian Restaurant.  Italian is never safe for a Celiac sufferer.  I mean when you cannot consume pasta, options are usually non-existent at such places.  But to my surprise, I discovered this on the menu:

Penne Senza Glutine

Gluten free

Gluten free pasta tossed with shrimp, green

beans, pine nuts, olive oil and garlic

So, naturally this is what I ordered.  Unfortunately, the waiter returned to say they had just run out of their gluten free pasta.  I asked him if he would mind asking the Chef what he would recommend for someone allergic to wheat and the verdict was "anything from our grill."

Skeptical I was, but that  didn't last long as this is what I ate:

Pollo al Mattone

Split Chicken topped with roasted peppers

and lemon sauce  (spinach and roasted potatoes as sides)

Now, that  was wonderful!  I will surely try to duplicate this recipe at home.  And if I might add, the dish did not make me sick in the least.  Thank you Mingalone's!

haha. Thanks. I am not sure where I got it. I'll have to dig into my memory bank to recall that purchase. I have had it for 2 years. It was one of my "goal" dresses. Finally, met the goal, so I was able to wear it.
