Two stories have captured my attention this week and brought the second coming of Christ near to my thinking. I love Bible prophecy. I wish I could rattle off to you fact after fact about what prophets have predicted and what has already come to pass, but I can't. I am learning though. And hopefully, one day I will be able to understand it enough to actually blog about it. Despite my inability to process the book of Revelation and apply it to our current timeline, I know that the second coming of Christ is very near. When my mom became a Christian 25 years ago, she was forever changed. A Bible study teacher with a mind for prophecy taught her a lot. Everything that seemed what some might call "nuts" 25 years ago has all come to pass today. Like our money, for instance, which he said would eventually be "colored" which he believed was a step or 2 away from a completely cashless society where Christians would be asked to take a different type of "mark."

I have been keeping my eye on Israel and their new attempts at drilling for Oil in the Dead Sea. I have followed Zion Oil for along time, a Dallas based company that believes that the Bible specifically mentions that Israel, like her neighbors, is rich in oil. As of this week, 3 Israeli Oil companies have been granted the right to now drill in the Dead Sea. Some scholars and prophecy enthusiasts believe that the "spoil" referred to in Ezekiel 38 could in fact be Oil. Israel's neighbors are rich in Oil, but Israel is not. But, what if they were? The world hates God's chosen people, the Jews. And I can only imagine that if Israel struck oil like their neighbors, it might just set the stage for the war that Ezekiel 38 talks about.
A second story of great fascination to me is the newest reports that the late great city of Babylon is possibly about to get a facelift. Yes, according to some reports, the United States and Iraq have assembled a team of individuals to help make the ancient ruins of Babylon a world famous tourist destination. This might seem silly to some, but predicted just the same in the Bible.
Some people might choose to disregard belief in Jesus. Some people probably get disgusted by blogs like mine, but one thing that's for sure, is the Bible comes true. God left us His holy word. God cannot lie. And everything in His book, comes true. I spend a lot of time telling people about my prayer life and how God answered those things physically on this Earth, because it is proof. No one can read my mind. No one, but God, knows my deepest concerns and fears. But, when I come to God in private and lay those things before Him, He answers. Not always right away, sometimes before I even finish my sentence. It is God's involvement in my life that keeps His second coming near to my mind at all times. If He cares enough about my daily life to answer even the silliest of prayers, I know He can be trusted. I know He does not lie; He cannot lie. And when I know that He cannot lie, then I know that His word will come true. And as I see the events of my lifetime, unfold before my very eyes, I know that His return is not far off, but very near at the door.
What an exciting time to live in! What an amazing opportunity to be the generation to watch these events, predicted thousands of years ago, come true before our very eyes.
